A large manufacturing warehouse East of Gympie has reported issues with large amounts of swallows that roost in various areas of the warehouse resulting in damaged product and in some cases, equipment covered in bird droppings.
The Project Engineer has trialed bird sound deterients. The product worked for a week and then the birds adapted and came back. “They are looking for a permanent solution that is humane and won’t require continuous maintenance,” Alwyn Lomas said after a site inspection.
Work is expected to start shortly on the warehouse that will require bird netting supply and installation to permanently elimante the bird problem for good.
